Peter Furler of the Newsboys

This is Peter Furler, the former lead singer for the Newsboys. If you’ve never heard their music, you should definitely give them a try.

I was working on another Golden Era Hollywood drawing and just needed a break. I actually finished this drawing within 8 days, which is fast for me! Total drawing time was approximately 22 hours. It is on 9 x 12 Bristol board using a mechanical pencil, 2H through 6B. As always, the original is lighter than the scan. I just can’t make the background that black, so I let the scanner help me out!

Please don’t be too harsh about my skin shading. At this point in my life, this is the best I can do. The reference had a lot of freckles or age spots that I didn’t even try to include for fear I’d make him look like Yoda! It isn’t unusual for me to nickname my drawings while I’m working on them. However, my husband actually nicknamed this one for me. He’d tell me to go upstairs and draw some on Baldylocks!
