This is one of my earlier Bristol board drawings from 2001. You will notice how the shading is even less smooth than I do now. I almost put it in scraps, but decided to put it in the regular gallery just based on how hard this was to draw!
I was in a car wreck in the middle of working on this that resulted in a painful cut on my drawing arm from my wrist to my elbow. So, being able to complete this drawing was somewhat of a miracle to me.
Shading is less smooth? Not in my eyes. Wonderful job very nicely done. Definitely one of the more challenging Amidala portraits. Good work, "twin" sister!
WOW!!! Karen, that is amazing. You are the Queen of Hair and Detail! Your patience never ceases to astound me. That is an incredible drawing.

Whew!! SO sorry to hear about your accident!! **hands over some Advil and a teddy bear** I hope you mend well, and soon--and in the meantime, we'll all gush over this piece... I'm like ~mjr2095: I see no major differences in the shading here--and I'm blown away by all the fabulous detail! The light and shadowing are superb, especially on all the beading, and I just love the way the strands' shadows fall softly across her face...gorgeous, and not an easy thing to render, I'm thinking! Amazing work yet again--I love it! !

This certainly proves that your talent is indestructible
And the details on her headband (or whatever you call this thing on her head ) are amazing *___*
There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
